Bridging the gap between research and real-world impact

RISE (Research, Innovation, and Social Equity) for Collaboration is a 1.5-month initiative that equips young researchers in Lebanon with the mindset and tools to transform academic research into collaborative, industry-relevant, and impact-driven projects.

Through hands-on workshops and tailored mentorship, participants bridge the gap between research and real community and market needs โ€” producing practical outputs with genuine real-world impact.

Founded by Jana Sabra, RISE for Collaboration is a community-driven action launched through the Young Civil Society Leadership Programme (YCSLP), part of the Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality II, funded by the European Union (DG MENA), led by DAI Global Belgium, and implemented by the Anna Lindh Foundation.

The RISE Journey

Three carefully designed phases take participants from exploration to tangible output in just six weeks.

01

RISE Panel Discussion

The programme opens with an expert panel that sets the tone โ€” exploring the landscape of research, innovation, and social equity in Lebanon. Participants engage with practitioners, ask hard questions, and begin shaping their perspective on what impactful research really means.

02

Series of Workshops

A curated set of hands-on sessions covering research methodology, collaborative design, stakeholder mapping, and storytelling. Participants develop the practical toolkit needed to take an idea from concept to reality.

03

Submitting Results

Each participant submits a final output in one of four categories, reflecting the format best suited to their research and goals:

๐Ÿš€ Startup ๐Ÿ“‹ Policy Brief ๐Ÿ“ข Advocacy Campaign ๐Ÿ” Case Study

Jana Sabra is a civic leader and researcher committed to making knowledge actionable. Through RISE for Collaboration, she has built a space where young researchers in Lebanon can move beyond the academy and into communities โ€” turning rigorous work into policies, products, and movements that matter.

Her work sits at the intersection of research, civil society, and social innovation, and is anchored in a belief that Lebanon's emerging researchers hold immense, underutilised potential.
